Master's Awards

During the Master’s Ceremony each year, graduating students, faculty and staff are acknowledged for their accomplishments and contributions to the University.

Nominations

All awards granted by the Division of Master’s and Professional Programs in the School of Professional Studies can be found on UFunds under Master's Student Awards. All nominations are reviewed by the Graduate Council, which also makes final determinations regarding the winner. For more details on the nomination process, requirements and deadlines, view each award below.

Awards

The awards and honorariums are presented to each recipient during the Master’s Ceremony in May.

Bates-Clapp Award

The Brown University Graduate Student Council confers the Bates-Clapp Award annually to a staff member who has made outstanding contributions to master's students.

Master’s Award for Outstanding Academic Accomplishment

This award recognizes an outstanding academic accomplishment demonstrated by a Brown University master’s student in any department or program while enrolled at the University.

Master’s Award for Engaged Citizenship and Community Service

This award recognizes outstanding engaged citizenship and service to the community within or outside of the University by a master’s student in any program.

Master’s Award for Professional Excellence

This award recognizes outstanding contributions by a Brown University master’s student which influence or contribute to the field or profession.

Graduate Student Contribution to Community Life Award

This award is given by the Division of Campus Life on behalf of the Corporation Committee on Campus Life and recognizes a select group of graduating doctoral and master’s students who have contributed in a very significant way to the sense of community at Brown.
