Our master's programs are designed to foster academic excellence and innovation across various disciplines.

All master's programs—except for professional master's programs and on-campus public health master's programs—use the same master's programs application and are submitted via the Brown application portal.

Applications for on-campus public health programs are submitted via SOPHAS.

Online public health programs: 

Applications for online masters public health programs are submitted via the Brown application portal.

Application Requirements

The following documents are required. Additional requirements vary by program so please refer to each program.

Required documents:

  • Transcripts
  • Three Letters of Recommendation
  • Personal Statement and/or Short Answer Questions
  • Resume/CV
  • Deadlines - Varies by program. Please view the specific program for deadlines and total course credit.
  • GRE - Requirement varies by program. Please refer to the specific program (Graduate School Code: 3094; School of Public Health Code: 7765)
  • TOEFL/IELTS - Required for any non-native English speaker who does not have a degree from an English language institution.

International and Brown Fifth-Year Applicants

Graduates of non-U.S. colleges and universities who have completed the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree may apply for admission to a master’s degree program at Brown University.

Along with the application, international applicants must provide:

  • Proof of Financial Support: upon enrollment deposit, international students will need to provide certified proof of financial support (including travel to and from the US) adequate to meet annual expenses. 
  • Third-party verification of final transcripts (WES, The Evaluation Company, ECE)

International Applicants

Brown undergraduate students have the unique opportunity to continue for an additional year to earn their master’s degree. Applicants apply in their final year of undergraduate study and may apply up to two approved courses towards their master’s degree.

Fifth-Year Master's Application Requirements:

    *The GRE requirement is waived for fifth-year applicants
